About Me
Sparking a little handmade magic in the middle of everyday motherhood. Welcome to Mom Craft Lab, where the glue gun is always plugged in, the yarn stash is proudly displayed, and we turn daily chaos into colorful creations.
I share real-life DIY projects, easy-to-follow crochet patterns, practical crafting tips, and everything I’ve learned from years of turning our house into a cozy, handmade home—often tackled one chaotic weekend at a time!
Whether you’re picking up a crochet hook for the very first time, looking for a rainy-day activity for the kids, or mapping out a fun room makeover, you are in the right place. Around here, we believe that creativity doesn’t require perfection, every tangled skein of yarn can be sorted out, and making things with your hands is the best kind of therapy.

A Bit About Me
I launched Mom Craft Lab as a creative side hobby… really, it was just a way to document the small crochet projects and DIYs I was tackling during nap times to keep my sanity. Over time, that tiny nap-time hobby grew into an incredible online community and a mission to help other moms feel more confident in their creativity.
Along the way, my skills grew right alongside my kids. I went from making wonky little stuffed animals to designing my own patterns and tackling bigger home DIYs, gaining so much appreciation for the value of a perfectly imperfect, well-loved home.
Why I Started Mom Craft Lab
If I’m being completely honest, Mom Craft Lab started from a place of simply needing something that was mine.
When I first became a mom, I was completely overwhelmed by the beautiful, exhausting whirlwind of it all. I love my two kids more than anything in this world, but between the endless laundry, the meal prep, and the sleepless nights, I felt like I was slowly losing the “Layla” part of me. I needed an outlet. I needed a way to use my brain and my hands for something other than wiping up spills.
So, I started picking up my crochet hooks again. I started painting old furniture. I started setting up messy, fun crafts for my oldest just to watch them discover something new. Making things gave me my energy back. It reminded me that I was still creative, still capable, and still me.
I started this blog because I knew I couldn’t be the only mom feeling that way. I wanted to create a space for women who were also wondering if they were the only ones hoarding empty cardboard boxes “just in case” for a craft project. I wanted to show that you don’t need endless free time, a quiet house, or professional skills to make beautiful things. You just need a little willingness to get messy.
It started as a place to share my projects, but it quickly became so much more. Readers started emailing me at Admin@momcraftlab.com. You guys started sharing your own DIYs, laughing with me about craft fails, and cheering each other on. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just my creative outlet anymore—it was our shared community.
Today, I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband and our two beautiful kids, and our house is essentially a living, breathing craft studio.
